Exploring Lake Tahoe - Holiday Edition

Our annual trip to Lake Tahoe was nothing short of incredible even with a few unplanned events.

First was accidentally getting our Corolla getting stuck in a turn out. We were stranded without cell service! We tried pushing, we tried flagging someone down, we tried sticking almost anything that was in my trunk under the front tire to get traction. (Except for the rubber knives. -Just don't ask)

Luckily after thirty minutes or so, an employee from nearby Alpine Resort pulled over to help us push and gather tree branches as a last resort. Surprisingly enough, they worked. It was all that was needed to get enough traction to get the "silver four wheeled golf cart that could" out of there. Wooh!

I've definitely tucked that idea into the "weird stuff I didn't know I needed to know" part of my brain for later use. I"m sure it will come in handy again the next time we turn the Corolla into a snow mobile.

The second unexpected event was an unrelenting downpour during our trip. I'm talking slush rain, the freezing, stinging, get me out of here kind of rain. After a full drive around the Lake to try and escape it, we gave up hope so we used the time to finish up on some Christmas shopping and indulge in an afternoon Matinee. Chris found an amazing little art space theatre in Tahoe City, the Tahoe Art Haus. Thank you rainy weather, if it wasn't for you we would have never found this gem! Also, if you haven't seen Arrival yet, we highly suggest it!

The weather begrudgingly gave us a break one afternoon so we took advantage of Mount Rose's half off special. Chris helped teach me how to snowboard, again. This being the third time! We really need to get up here more often for practice, although I think I'm finally getting the hang of it. I woke up the next morning being able to move both legs and wrists and without bruises all over my butt! At least that's an improvement.

This was snapped in a quaint little gift shop down the street from our lodge. The rain was a perfect excuse to finish some Christmas shopping. I wish our flat was larger because I would have loved to have taken this beautiful Christmas tree set home! The stud in the reflection ain't hard on the eyes either. I did take him home at least.

The rain's gift over Lake Tahoe.

The downtime among the cedar, redwoods, and snow covered valley was much appreciated before the Holiday craze, er, I mean, spirit commenced. Hopefully on our next visit I'll graduate from the bunny hill on to something a bit more interesting....for Chris' sake.
